About the role
You'll own the systems that keep our product reliable as we scale — data pipelines, APIs, services, and the boring infrastructure that's only boring when it works.
We have real volume, real edge cases, and a small enough team that you'll touch all of it.
What you'll do
- Design and ship APIs that the frontend and customers depend on
- Work on the systems behind our highest-traffic flows
- Improve performance, observability, and reliability across the backend
- Write the schemas, migrations, and tests that keep us moving fast safely
- Be on a small on-call rotation for the services you own
- Mentor the rest of the team on backend patterns
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of production backend experience
- Strong SQL and relational data modeling
- Comfort with at least one of: queueing, caching, search, streaming
- Has carried a pager before and learned from it
Nice to have
- Experience scaling a system past a million users
- Open-source contributions to backend tools
- You've built internal tooling that other engineers actually use
